HOW PREX CAME TO THE DIOCESE OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION
It was on September 1997 when the Christ The Kind Parish (CTKP) PREX Outreach team of Filinvest II, Quezon City, under the leadership of Kuya August and Ate Beth Perez, came to introduce PREX at the St. William the Hermit Cathedral Parish upon the invitation of Fr. Mons Lacsamana and Fr. Eric Ferrer. PREX then spread to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) thru the wholehearted support of Fr. Generoso Taguiam and to St. Monica Parish upon the consent of Fr. Ignacio Asuncion and its PPC. To maximize resources , CTKP conducted PREX seminars in the 3 parishes at the same time.
The CTKP empowered PREX graduates in the diocese by training and developing them thru the conduct of workshops for Lead Couples, Speakers, Sharers and Demo teams. Later on, seminars for Pre-Cana and Parenting were also offered to assist us in our parishes.
To sustain our commitment and diocesan teamwork for the great task of Evangelization , we have been celebrating our PREX Diocesan Anniversary towards the end of November for the past several years with a Kasalan ng Bayan, Raffles and Sportsfest. Recollections have also been given during Lent and Advent.
PREX continued to grow as St. Monica reached out to Aringay , Damortis and Rosario. OLPH brought it to Caba , Bauang and Bacnotan , while St. William introduced it to Luna. Monthly meetings of the Diocesan Secretariat are held to do planning and assessment. Aside from our participation in activities of the respective parishes where we belong, we also have our parish PREX reunion, monthly prayer meetings and fund raising activities. Involvement in different parish activities such as BEC program, lay ministers, commentators, church cleaning and our music ministries are serving during Sunday masses. As of now, the diocese has active PREX parishes as shown below:
